A simple open source language learning application template.
We all learned our first language through social interaction and communication. Sites like Verbling and Speaky are great sites that take advantage of using this technique and we highly recommend them!
However what if you don't want to have a conversation with a real person? What if you just want to text message a robot and learn the language that way? That's why I created langApp!
langApp uses a number of open source projects to work properly:
- Poly UI Kit - Used for lessons & alphabet's user interface
- Uikit - Used briefly throughout the skills and chat section
- jQuery - duh
- ResponsiveVoice.JS - Used to convert text to speech. Also main reason why this application is under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 license and not the MIT license.
Free Software, Hell Yeah!
- (How To) Pronounce
- michael schwartz and others
As of April 2, 2018 langApp is officially distcontinued!
Of course, langApp is free and open source, so you can always fork the project and have fun :)
