MSI system installer needed #4126
Comments
It looks like this wasn't accepted upstream (please see microsoft/vscode#38008). We may want to support this for enterprise deployment scenarios since based on the discussion there are some issues using EXE-based installers with GPO. |
Will you accept an MSI installer? |
Can you share your feedback, please? I do not like to waste my time and the vscode installer already exists in my repro. So it is easy to adopt. |
hello, any update? please look for office, sql server and other Microsoft products. all them have deployment solution per computer. in enterprise environment is normal distribute via MSI packages with off automatic updates due to stability and compatibility of environment (other plugins, and solutions). you can read about this theme in my article https://translate.google.cz/translate?sl=cs&tl=en&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.michalzobec.cz%2Fapplication-deployment-obvykle-postupy-a-zvyky-pro-nasazovani-aplikaci-ve-firemnim-prostredi-5395 please inspire on Keepass or GreenShot |

I need an MSI installer for the product. Can you build one and get rid of bad EXE, please? If you need help I can also build it for you.
This is required for AD Deployments in enterprise installations. Per User installations are automatically deleted by group policies that cleanup the local app data folder and therefore whipe the installation from disk.
