I solved the issue by downloading the 1.90 version and disabling the autoupdate.

Now we shall just wait the resolution of the bug on the more recent release.

By the way, for a more in depth overview of the problem try this thread #219893

Same here (macOS 11.7.9), and the problem is that I deleted all the caches of VS Code.

Same issue (macos 11.7.10).

The same. After reinstalling to the May and January versions, it still does not open.
V8 is associated with the JS engine, reinstalled node. Still won't open. On my Mac 11.7 VSCode seems to have died. How can you still revive him, three hours ago he was still so vigorous...?

Thx @alfiobiondo for the workaround using v1.90.

This problem happened to me after a 'force quit' last night
The workaround of using v.1.9.0 solved the question here.
(Make sure to disable auto-update)
Thank you!
macOS version 10.15.7

Same issue here with version 1.91. Uninstall 1.91 and reinstall 1.90. Make sure right after you reinstall you disconnect from the internet and disable auto updates then restart, as it will update to 1.91 very discretely and break again.
