A similar project exists in Python, also called yq:

https://github.com/kislyuk/yq/

It also handles XML. It would still be nice to resolve the naming conflict between the two programs. I have recommended renaming the other one to xq or xyq (in kislyuk/yq#41) because it also handles XML. :)
