I have an idea. We should move trees generation from C++ code into Lua mod. It will help to develop mods that add new kinds of trees.

Thats a good idea.
Also move the dirt -> dirt with grass code to lua.
I already did some code for that in my minimal gamemode (https://github.com/PilzAdam/minimal).

Using abms is very bad.

Well, it is done with abms at the moment. They are just defined in c++ now.
The one I use in my minimal gamemode are nearly same as in the c++ code (content_abm.cpp).
