OCTV - media player for ownCloud
Whole point of
OCTV is to turn your computer running ownCloud into web
controlled video player. You can control the player via web, but the movie is
played on the computer you are controlling and output there as well. So you can
control your player for example from your cellphone or tablet while movie is
being played on your big TV.
For recommended setup, you would need following:
if you can’t run them as a user, then sudo as well
You don’t need sudo. You souldn’t need sudo. But unfortunatelly it is not so
easy on modern Linux distributions to run Xorg without sudo. So if you care
about security, do not use sudo. If you are lazy, it is easier to use it. So
add following content to your
%www ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/killall mpv %www ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/socat - /tmp/mpv.sock %www ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/xinit /usr/bin/mpv --input-unix-socket=/tmp/mpv.sock *
And if you need to (for example if you own Allwinner board you want to use),
make sure that you add some important variables into list of kept environment
/etc/sudoers. For example
Defaults env_keep = "LANG LC_ALL XDG_SESSION_COOKIE VDPAU_DRIVER VDPAU_OSD"
To make everything work, you need to also configure mpv for the user you are
running the player under. If you are using sudo, it will be root, so you can
/root/.mpv/config You can use my config for inpiration.
# Fullscreen fs # I like PulseAudio ao=pulse # Use HW acceleration on Allwinner vo=vdpau hwdec=vdpau hwdec-codecs=all # My CRT needs some overscan settings video-zoom=-0.14 video-pan-x=0.008 # For some reason video was too saturated saturation=-30 # Subtitles tunning force-rgba-osd-rendering sub-use-margins sub-text-font-size=45 sub-pos=95
Get it running
Clone it into your ownClouds apps directory and enable it in the web. Then you can play movies from Files application via context menu or by selecting them in OCTV application. In that application you can also control the player itself - for example pausing it or rewinding it.
