Hello,

I was trying to set the "Targeted Sequencing" value for a Library Aliquot with Design Code "TS (Targeted Sequencing)", however, no "Targeted Sequencings" appear in the dropdown menu. There are multiple "Targeted Sequencing" entries created (URL: /miso/targetedsequencing/list).

This issue was encountered in MISO version 1.17.0.

Thanks!

Hello,

Targeted sequencing options are linked to library kits, so that a targeted sequencing option is only available on the library aliquot if its parent library uses one of the linked kits. You can make these associations on the Edit Kit Descriptor page.

This is a common point of confusion, and a lot of navigation to multiple pages is required whenever creating targeted sequencing options. I think it would be ideal to remove the bulk create/edit page for targeted sequencing options, and instead have a single create/edit page that allows you to associate kits at the same time.

Thank you for clarifying! We'll look into it on our end to link things up.

The type of targeted sequencing we are frequently doing is PCR amplification of RNA viruses using PCR schemes like the ARTIC SARS-CoV-2 PCR amplification protocol. It would be really nice to have this info captured in MISO appropriately since we've been resorting to adding this info to library descriptions.
