Does nwm have support for remote access? For example, can I run a server with nwm and access the window manager from a remote client through a browser?

Wanted to ask before diving into it. Thanks. This is an awesome project.

Yes, this is possible; though it's not like VNC or X11 remoting, e.g. you just get the information a regular window manager has. From there you can expose the data and operations from nwm as a web service.

nwm consists of three layers:

  • c binding: an eventemitter -like native binding that translates local X11 events to callbacks in JS
  • "nwm.js": a default implementation that takes those events and makes changes in the models/collections
  • "nwm-user.js": key bindings and other callbacks that act upon the models/collections + layout loading.
