Wonder who suggested, but this once came up on some IRC channel:

--sudo option always does sudo upon installation, which is not desired if a user has a write bit to the install location i.e. using a locally installed perlbrew or running cpanm as a root.

There should probably be a more DWIM --audo-sudo option, which only runs sudo if a user doesn't have a write bit to the install location.

In the future this may better be the default, unless the running user is root.
