File index shown instead of page when switching category

So, I've built docs using MKDocs and $ mkdocs build. However, when I switch the category using the sidebar (readthedocs theme), instead of opening syntax.html the docs open the file's folder, like shown below:

It even happens when switching to the main category:

For anyone else a bit stumped by this... you need to run a webserver on the directory that mkdocs build outputs to. For example:

cd site
python -m http.server

Note that http.server is not a production-suitable webserver (but is suitable for testing), I'd suggest using something like NGINX instead.
