How to know where to start? Knowledge map?

How well does this content fit a knowledge map structure? The list is great but it's also large-ish and growing. Having a logical starting point (perhaps per high-level topic) might be interesting.

Solving the problem: how does one use this list to build a reading list? What order should things be learned/considered? What papers/books build on ideas in earlier ones?

Perhaps the answer is just reading things in roughly chronological order, in which case publication dates might make sense in the README.

That's a great point, thanks for bringing it up.

To expand on your suggestions, some things we should consider:

• Add a blurb for each resource explaining what it's about and who it's most recommended for, so that users can self-identify a path.
• Group resources by subject and then order within each subject by suggested order.
• Maybe do an explicit topic map or intro and see where that leads.

I'm not sure what the right answer is here yet but I'll keep thinking about it.
