Feature request

Summary

There is no easy way to specify where to add a new MODX menu item.

Why is it needed?

It takes too many steps to add a menu item where you want it to be. Right now, the hack is to edit the menu folder into which you want the new one to go, then save that info without changing anything. Then, when you click the Create Menu button, that folder you just edited will be the parent folder.

Also, the Parent popup list in the Create Menu dialog box is not in alphabetical order, nor does it show any hierarchy. I assume menu items are listed here in the index order they appear in, but includes parents and children without any visual distinction between them. This situation makes it hard to use this popup.

Suggested solution(s)

Two things would help.

  1. Indent the list of menu items in the Menus popup of the Create Menu window, or use dashes or some other visual device to make the current tree structure clear.

  2. Add "create menu here" to the popup when you right-click on a menu item on the main screen (just like we have for creating resources in the resource tree). Right now, there is only "Update menu" and "Delete menu item".

It is somewhat counter-intuitive, but if you highlight a child of a main menu folder, then create a new item, it will have that parent folder automatically.

And of course you can always drag-and-drop any menu item anywhere else in the structure.

I don't agree with the summary but it can be improved a bit.

The dropdown should work more like the dropdown for selecting an elements category.
