439845e @alanmcgovern Added guide on translations
alanmcgovern authored
1 There are three sections:
2 A) New translations
3 B) Updating existing translations
4 C) Testing a translation
5
6 Follow the steps designated in each section to modify or
7 test your translation.
8
9
10 A) New Translations
11 -------------------------------------------
12
13 1) Execute these commands:
14 $ ./autogen.sh
15 $ cd po
16 $ make monsoon.pot
17
18 2) A file called monsoon.pot has now been created in the po
19 directory. Rename this file to $LANG$.po. For example,
20 if you were translating german you would call it 'de.po'.
21
22 3) Open this file in your favourite text editor and fill in
23 the required translations.
24
25 4) Edit configure.in and go to line 55 and include your
26 translation in the list of languages. If you were
27 including 'de.po' you would make the following modification.
28
29 -ALL_LINGUAS="es fr"
30 +ALL_LINGUAS="es fr de"
31
32 5) When you're finished, run 'svn diff' and save the output.
33 Send that in as your translation.
34
35
36 B) Updating an existing translation
37 -------------------------------------------
38
39 To update an existing translation, you need to do the following:
40
41 1) Execute the following commands:
42 $ svn up
43 $ cd po
44 $ make update-po
45
46 2) Open the required language file in your text editor and search
47 for "fuzzy" or "". These are places which need to be updated.
48
49 3) When complete run the following command and submit the
50 'language.patch' file. Replace $LANG$ with the language
51 you are translating. For German, this would be 'de'.
52
53 $ svn diff $LANG$.po > langauge.patch
