Choppy playback when using libspotify #7

Mopidy works. Connects to the Spotify service and shows my playlists etc.

However playback sounds very chopyy. As if the stream isn't buffering enough. Regular sound plays without problems and internet connection is ok. The proprietary spotify client plays the stream without problems.

I'm running mopidy on CentOS 5.4 with Python 2.6.1 (r261:67515)

I assume you use the default DespotifyBackend and Mopidy 0.1.0a1?

Sorry. Forgot to mention that. No I use the libspotify package on 64bit CentOS. With mopidy 0.1.0a1.

Oh! And also. Using the despotify library doesn't work, it segfaults

I can confirm the choppy playback using Mopidy 0.1.0a2, pyspotify 1.1 and libspotify 0.0.4 (Ubuntu 10.04, 64 bit). The sound is distorted multiple times per second. I've used the same combination of software some weeks ago without this problem. With the Despotify backend the sound is working properly.

As for the despotify segfault, could you open another issue with whatever steps you need to reproduce the segfault, and the segfault itself? If you use Mopidy 0.1.0a2 (released yesterday), there is a --dump flag which you can use to dump Mopidy's debug log to file.

Never mind that segfault... My library paths were screwed and thus it was loading an old libvorbis library. Fixing the paths and recompiling it with the correct version of libvorbis worked after setting the BACKENDS to 'mopidy.backends.despotify.DespotifyBackend'.

libspotify still distorts.

I'll keep it on despotify and enjoy the music - thanks for a great project; If I can help out please let me know.

Any progress in fixing the playback using libspotify? I'd like to use that... not getting despotify to work... ( updated - despotify now works! )

Kudos to the developers!

Using pyspotify's jukebox.py example, I get sound distortion too, so this is not an issue with Mopidy.

The issue exists with both the latest pyspotify and version 1.1. As the sound did not have any distortion when pyspotify 1.1 was released, I am rather confident Spotify have changed something.

knutz3n has solved this issue in f2c28cb. He will probably get the fix into pyspotify instead of fixing it in Mopidy.

Acknowledged. Switched over to libspotify and choppy playback is gone
