I have the following document created in LuaTeX using the Linux Libertine OpenType font:

http://refsmmat.com/files/microcosmographia.pdf

In Firefox 29.0.1 on Mac OS 10.9.3, some of the ligatures are displayed corrupted (both in-browser and in the online viewer). For example, from the first page of that document:

and

Curiously, the "fi" ligature in the second image is fine, but the "ft" ligature is not.

The document displays fine in Preview and Adobe Reader. I tried switching to the Apple-supplied Times font and ligatures appear fine. But Libertine has an abundance of unusual ligatures.

Renders perfectly fine for me on Windows 7 x64, Firefox Nightly 34.0a1 (HWA on) and the latest PDF.js development version.

@capnrefsmmat Could you try opening the file with https://mozilla.github.io/pdf.js/web/viewer.html which is the latest version of PDF.js (use the Open File button in the toolbar) and let us know if that solves the problem or not?

Just tried the web viewer in Firefox 31, now on OS X 10.9.4. I still see the same problem.

On the other hand, I just tried the web viewer in Chrome and the ligatures rendered correctly. So perhaps this is a Firefox- and Mac-specific font rendering bug.

I've done some digging to determine what is causing this problem. While I didn't figure out the problem exactly, some of my findings might be helpful for further investigation:

I've just tried the web viewer again (Firefox 39, OS X 10.10.4) and the ligatures work correctly. The pdf.js version shipped with Firefox 39 still has the bug. Some recent change must have fixed it. I assume the fix will land in Firefox fairly soon?

@capnrefsmmat Yes, probably within one or two versions.
