INTRODUCTION Beautiful Sound is the author's exploratory DSP project. The goal is to implement tools for creating visually pleasing images of sound and music. All tools read and write stereo WAVE input. If you need to use other formats, there's a number of tools that will transcode your files to/from WAVE, such as the excellent mpg123. BUILDING Before building Beautiful Sound, make sure you have the required dependencies. These are: - g++ 4.6.1 - libsndfile-dev - libfftw3-dev - libpng-dev Once you've verified that you have the prerequisites, build Beautiful Sound by calling make: $ make The binaries will be placed in the 'bin' directory. USING BEAUTIFUL SOUND To generate a waveform from a WAVE file, pipe the file to bin/plot-wave: cat audio.wav | bin/plot-wave out.png The waveform will be written to out.png in 1080p resulution. You can change the resolution through the -w and -h arguments: cat audio.wav | bin/plot-wave out.png -w 2560 -h 1600 PROJECT WEBSITE The project's website is http://beautiful-sound.mpacula.com AUTHOR & LICENSING Beautiful Sound was written by Maciej Pacula (email@example.com) and is distributed as free software under the terms of the AGPL v3 license. See the file COPYING for details. If you would like to incorporate one or more Beautiful Sound tools in proprietary product, please contact the author and inquire about a commercial license.
