42 4. Additional software
43 ======================
44 To run the translation you will need to have Condor (The Competition
45 Soaring Simulator) on your local computer.
46
47 4.1.a) XCSoar
48 -------------
49 In case of XCSoar translation following steps must be completed:
50 1. Have XCSoar installed and configured on the target device
51 (e.g. PDA, PNA, PC).
52 2. Obtain XCM map files for all supported sceneries from condor2nav
53 project webpage
54 (http://sourceforge.net/projects/condor2nav/files/maps/XCSoar/Maps.zip/download)
55 3. Find "XCSoarData" directory created with XCSoar and copy all
56 XCM scenery files to the [XCSoar] "Condor2NavDataSubDir" subdirectory
57 on the target device.
58 4. [OPTIONAL] If [Condor2Nav] "OutputPath" is different than the
59 [XCSoar] "XCSoarDataPath" copy "[XCSOAR_DATA_PATH]/xcsoar-registry.prf"
60 file to the "[CONDOR_2_NAV_PATH]/data" directory.
61
62 4.2.b) LK8000
63 -------------
64 In case of LK8000 translation following steps must be completed:
65 1. Have LK8000 installed and configured on the target device
66 (e.g. PDA, PNA, PC).

2012-01-29 Installation for LK8000 procedures updated
67 2. Copy directory "[CONDOR_2_NAV_PATH]/data/LK8000/_Waypoints" with waypoints for all
68 supported Condor landscapes to "LK8000" subdirectory on the target device with
69 your LK8000 instalation.

70 3. If [LK8000] "CheckForMapUpdates=1" Condro2Nav will check on the startup for
71 new better maps matching Condor Landscapes. If such maps are available
72 they will be downloaded automatically.
73 4. Copy "[CONDOR_2_NAV_PATH]/data/LK8000/_Maps" subdirectory containing all
74 downloaded LK8000 maps to "LK8000" directory.
75 subdirectory on the target device with LK8000 instalation.
76 5. [OPTIONAL] If [Condor2Nav] "OutputPath" is different than the [LK8000]
77 "LK8000Path" copy "[LK8000_DATA_PATH]/_Configuration/DEFAULT_PROFILE.prf"
78 file to the "[CONDOR_2_NAV_PATH]/data" directory.
79
80
81 5. Configuration
82 ================
83 Condor2Nav is preconfigured to make it work with no issues on any platform
84 and at the same time require as small effort for every Condor task
85 translation as possible. When using default configuration, below steps marked
86 as [OPTIONAL] may be skipped.
87 However it is possible to configure it in the other way maybe to better
88 suite user's needs. In that case [OPTIONAL] points may be useful.
89
90 Open condor2nav.ini file and change the following:
91 1. [OPTIONAL] Change the name of Condor default task file you will use for
92 the translation (Condor task file name can also be provided for each
93 translation from the Command Line Interface - see "condor2nav-cli.exe -h"
94 for more info).
95 2. [OPTIONAL] If Condor FPL files are stored in non default location
96 please use [Condor] "FlightPlansPath" and [Condor] "RaceResultsPath"
97 parameters to provide correct paths.
98 3. [OPTIONAL] Condor2Nav is configured to use ActiveSync connection by
99 default. In case of other translation target (local directory, connected
100 flash card) change the application output path ([Condor2Nav] "OutputPath").
101 4. [OPTIONAL] In [Condor2Nav] chapter setup which data should be translated.
102 5. [OPTIONAL] In case of XCSoar translation and if proposed Condor2Nav data
103 path on the target device doesn't suite your needs change
104 [XCSoar] "Condor2NavDataSubDir".
105 6. [OPTIONAL] In case of LK8000 translation you can enable
106 [LK8000] "DefaultProfilesOverwrite=1" option to not have to choose Condor
107 secific profiles of each LK8000 startup. Please backup your working
108 profile before doing that!!!
109
110
111 6. Translation
112 ==============
113 6.1. Translation Types
114 ----------------------
115 6.1.a) Default task
116 -------------------
117 1. Open Condor and save the task for translation. By default "A" task name
118 is used for translation.
119 2. [OPTIONAL] In case of any other Condor task name, condor2nav.ini file
120 should be updated.
121
122 6.1.b) Last Race
123 ----------------
124 1. It is possible to translate Condor task even if saving it on the disk is
125 not allowed by the server. To do that user should join Condor multiplayer
126 race and right after that quit the game. Now Condor2Nav is able to
127 translate the data when it will be run with 'Last Race' option.
128
129 6.1.c) Other task
130 -----------------
131 1. For GUI version just select desired file after clicking "Other" radio button.
132 For CLI version provide task file full path to Command Line Interface
133 (see "condor2nav-cli.exe -h" for more info) or a task file icon should
134 be drag-and-dropped on the condor2nav-cli.exe icon.
135
136 6.2. Translate
137 --------------
138 1. Run condor2nav-gui.exe or condor2nav-cli.exe Condor2Nav application
139 (it is handful to create a shortcut to application executable on
140 the Windows desktop).
141
142 6.3.a) XCSoar
143 -------------
144 2. [OPTIONAL] If [Condor2Nav] "OutputPath" is different than the
145 [XCSoar] "XCSoarDataPath" copy output data manually to the target directory.
146
147 6.3.b) LK8000
148 -------------
149 2. [OPTIONAL] If [Condor2Nav] "OutputPath" is different than the
150 [LK8000] "LK8000Path" copy output data manually to the target directory.
151
