Reproduction steps

Playing a file with an embedded subtitle with a line with timestamp 0

Expected behavior

All lines should be displayed

Actual behavior

The line with timestamp 0 isn't shown. Strangely loading an external subtitle or streaming from youtube avoids this issue. I tested with vtt and ass and it happens with both, though be careful when testing since ffmpeg will sometimes add 00.01 to all times in an ass sub when converting/embedding (maybe to avoid this issue?).

I downloaded it with:
youtube-dl aqSCoQJxbMI --all-subs --embed-subs --postprocessor-args "-disposition:s:0 default"
