readme

these are old source snapshots, which might be useful to track down bugs

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CAUTION: it is recommended to uninstall both the compiler and libraries prior
         building the tarball to avoid side effects caused by eg including
         header files from another compiler/library version (this is especially
         true for very old versions)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2.7.0: (14-10-2001)

$ make -C src -f make/gcc.mak && make -C libsrc

note: fails with unexpected errors when building libs

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2.8.0: (12-04-2002)

$ make -C src -f make/gcc.mak && make -C libsrc

note: fails with unexpected errors when building libs

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2.10.1: (06-05-2004)

$ make -f make/gcc.mak

(this is funky, as none of the libs compiles with the compiler in this tarball)

fix: locate the files and make the arrays use fixed length:

errormsg.c(12): Error: Size of `_sys_errlist' is invalid
     const char* const _sys_errlist[16] = {

locale.c(21): Error: Size of `EmptyString' is invalid
    static char EmptyString [1] = "";

...etc (there will be more)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2.11.0: (10-09-2005)

$ make -f make/gcc.mak

note: it all works as expected, except the docs are not built
fix: in doc/Makefile lines 59 and 84 are spaces before the required TAB, remove
     them

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2.12.0: (21-04-2008)

$ make -f make/gcc.mak

testsuite fails on: add3a, add3, array, casttochar, cc65090124, cc65090913,
                    cc65091007, cc65091020, cq4, cq715, cq85, macro,
                    strtol-test, strtoul-test, switch, wf1, yacc, yaccdbg
testsuite expected fails: fields, sitest
testsuite must (and do) fail: front
testsuite works although it should fail: cc65091001

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2.13.2: (07-03-2010)

$ make -f make/gcc.mak

testsuite fails on: add3a, add3, casttochar, cc65101209, cc65101216
testsuite expected fails: fields, sitest
testsuite must (and do) fail: cc65091001, front

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2.13.3: (08-02-2012)

$ make -f make/gcc.mak

testsuite fails on: add3a, add3, casttochar
testsuite expected fails: fields, sitest
testsuite must (and do) fail: cc65091001, front

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CAUTION: when switching revisions using git, make sure to use "make clean"
         (or "make -f make/gcc.mak zap" on older versions) BEFORE using
         something like
         git checkout `git rev-list -n 1 --before="2013-01-01 13:37" master`

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

current git version:

$ make

testsuite fails on: add3a, add3
testsuite expected fails: fields, sitest
testsuite must (and do) fail: cc65091001, front

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

general notes regarding failed tests:

yacc, yaccdbg, charset fail on charset conversion issues when using c64 target/
x64 as simulator.

fields relies on weird bordercases regarding bitfields. not sure if it even
qualifies as failed.

sitest tests features yet unimplemented in cc65 so it can not work
You can’t perform that action at this time.
