Apparently, Mountain Lion breaks a LOT of stuff, which breaks existing installs of imagemagick :-(

See: http://robots.thoughtbot.com/post/27985816073/the-hitchhikers-guide-to-riding-a-mountain-lion

I got it to work by doing the following: update XCode to 4.4, update the XCode command line tools, install XQuartz (imagemagick currently depends on this, and Apple removed it from developer tools in 10.8), and then do the following:

brew uninstall imagemagick
brew install --fresh imagemagick

Let me know if this works for you.

I've filed an issue with homebrew to remove X11 support from the default imagemagick package to make this less of a pain in the ass for new users. :-/

Thanks @mroth, now that your Homebrew ticket is closed I was able to reinstall imagemagick without adding XQuartz. Your solution was a big help.
