Welcome to the jour71105 course information site

This introductory course, Fundamentals of Multimedia Storytelling: Interactive Journalism and Data-Driven Reporting, prepares you for two of the J School's second semester courses that take you further into the ways that newsrooms either use data science to make reporting precise or use web development to make reporting dynamic.

Students build data visualizations and news stories designed specifically for the web.

  • Lessons walk you through various data skills and the production of web content packages.
  • Readings and activities cover user experience (UX), user interaction (UI), and information architecture (IA).
  • Assignments require students to collaborate on projects, pitches and presentations.
