Adding a new sheet to a generated xlsx file crashed excel. Printing the workbook crashed excel. Issue was that there was no definition for bookViews. It didn't know where the window was opened to and the window size. Don't know why excel cared, open office didn't care it just filled in defaults if it wasn't defined.

…ith excel 2003 on windows. The zip file is correct, but excel does not open it. So create a tempdir and all the files in that, you pass in the filename you want to create. When you are done with creation call serializer.zipfile and it will return to you the path of where the file is located. Call serializer.cleanup to cleanup everything when you are finished. This is good enough for now. Am also converting all cr to crlf since windows seemed to have a beef with that also, just extend strings and add def lf_to_crlf gsub(/\012/, "\015\012") end to your rails project if you can't figure it out look at the source.
