"Diff with Active File" opens blank document

I used to be able to easily compare 2 contents by creating 2 temporary files and using the "Diff with Active File" feature, but it seems to have been broken by an update.

Steps to reproduce:

• Create 2 new files
• Paste content into both
• Right-click on the other file tab and click "Diff with Active File"

Expected behaviour:
A new diff window opens with the content of the other file

Actual behaviour:
A new diff window opens without any content and a placeholder saying "Paste what you want to diff here!"
