Serial port converters discussed by HD Moore blog, slides.

They usually expose SNMP/Modbus/ADDP on ports:

  • Lantronix: 2001-2032, 3001-3032
  • Digi: 2001-2099
  • Linux root on 2001 and 3001

Digi provides RealPort on 771 and SSL version on 1027

Common passwords are "dbps", "digi" and "faster"

Do you think honeyd can capable of simulating the telnet server? I think stunnel can be used for SSL version.

one could of course convert the honeyd telnet server, which is powered by perl -
but instead of that you could also build upon python's telnetsrv:

Regarding telnetsrvlib it works pretty good. We use it in the beeswarm project to provide a simple emulated shell for our ssh and telnet capabilities:
