Welcome to the wiki for ExpHC, the Experimental Hardcore Post-Apocalyptic Minecraft server. ExpHC aims to offer a new and rich experience in the hardcore apocalypse server genre.

Thousands of years have passed since the incident... one of the fortunate survivors, you awake in a changed world. Few signs of human life, but nature has rebounded well: the jungles, wild berries, and fruit trees have flourished. But the radioactive craters remain, posing a significant danger should you stumble across one... or you may be lucky enough to find an old long-abandoned factory or fallout shelter, stocked full of useful supplies... or another player, hostile or friendly, who knows?

The future is in your hands. Whether you would like to seek out other players using radio towers and walkie talkies to band together and rebuild civilization with high-tech industry, drift over the land in your hot air balloon or in an anti-gravity suite exploring the world, or attempt to live a quiet peaceful life in solitude tending to your bees and tree farms with automated pipes and redstone contraptions -- the choice is yours, on the one-and-only Experimental Hardcore Post-Apocalyptic Minecraft Server.

ExpHC 1.2.5 runs the following mods:

Notable server plugins:

  • Cake's Miner Apocalypse - generated fallout shelters with custom loot
  • RealisticChat - local chat, whispering, yelling, bullhorns, walkie talkies, smartphones
  • RadioBeacon - radio towers, relays, portable compass radios
  • PotionsPlus - new potions, rarely found in fallout shelters
  • EnchantMore - new enchanted items, rarely found in fallout shelters
  • BetterDispensers - vertical dispensers and more
  • QuickBench - crafting without recipes
  • Chestpack - wear a chest on your chest
  • SilkSpawners - silk touch picks up monster spawners
  • Exclusive trading plugin - the last remnants of infrastructure intact after the calamity.. a global trade network accessible by holding an item in your hand you want to offer, then typing "/want" followed by the item you want in exchange.

Rules:

  • No hacking, cheating, exploiting, x-ray, or unauthorized client mods
  • No excessively lagging the server
  • No asking for free items or teleports when you die
  • Violation of rules = permban
  • Stealing, raiding, robbing, killing, griefing is allowed - this is hardcore
  • Coordinate sharing is allowed, anywhere
  • Rules subject to change

  • PvP enabled, max difficulty
  • 17,000 x 17,000 map + random spawn
  • Death ban 5 min
  • Legit survival
  • Hosted in USA with 1 Gbps uplink
  • 8 GB memory with eight-core CPU

How to Join:

  1. Post in this thread with your Minecraft name, and ask to join.

  2. Follow the instructions I'll send you to get setup

More experimental plugins or mods may be added or removed or nerfed if needed.

Feedback on the mods or plugins or gameplay or your experiences in general is always welcome. The mods were carefully hand-picked (and/or coded) to work well together, and ExpHC is ran with open source ideals in mind, so other interested server owners can build their own ExpHC-inspired server, if they choose.
