nashvillephp.org

This is the website for the Nashville PHP user group.

If you're a member of our user group, we'd love for you to add content to our website. Feel free to fork this site, add your info to _data/authors.yml (follow the example there), and add an article to _posts/articles/ (again, take a look at existing articles for reference). Then, send us a pull request!

Previewing the site locally

This site is powered by Jekyll and GitHub Pages; the theme is based on the Skinny Bones Jekyll Starter theme.

It's pretty easy to run locally to preview your changes first. All you need is Ruby and Bundler (gem install bundler) installed. Most systems already have Ruby. We recommend using rbenv to install isolated Ruby environments, but that's optional (rbenv install 2.2.0).

  1. Fork this repository by clicking the "Fork" link at the top of this page
  2. Locally clone your fork of the repository:

    git clone git@github.com:myclone/nashvillephp.github.io.git

  3. Change to the project's directory:

    cd nashvillephp.github.io/

  4. Use bundler to install the project requirements:

    bundle install

  5. Start serving locally with Jekyll:

    jekyll serve

While Jekyll is running, you may access the site in your web browser from http://127.0.0.1:4000/.

Once you're happy with your changes, push them up to your fork, and then send us a pull request. If you have any questions, please ask in #nashvillephp on Freenode IRC.

Thanks!
