Do you have the option of upgrading to a newer nvim? I think it's still missing v:t_null but more recent ones have v:t_string.

I suppose could ban v:t_* throughout the plugin but it hurts readability and possibly performance...

Replace all v:t_* with type()
Fixes #185

nvim has inconsistent support - rather than try to deal with figuring
out which work, avoid them entirely.
