[Discussion] Metadata - Update and purge #1335

We need to see what the best method to keep metadata up to date.
In most cases this is not an issue since data will be updated when rclone runs but there are a few special cases.

  • File has been deleted both on local and remote. since there is no reference to the file rclone will need to verify each record if ti still exist which might be expensive for doing in every run ( I'm thinking adding a flag that will check and purge the db)
  • File/Dir has moved to a new location. That might not actually be a metadata issue since the file will be removed and copied to the new location on next run, but maybe we can use the meta data to detect that and just move it on the remote as well
