On Linux Ubuntu 13.10 and derivatives, mod-auth-pgsql is not available, due to an incompatibility between this module and Apache 2.4 (new default Apache version).

Apache 2.2 and later provide the mod-authn-dbd module, which abstracts database authentication.

Manual installation instructions:
1- install libaprutil1-dbd-pgsql package (instead of libapache2-mod-auth-pgsql)

2- enable mod-authn-dbd module:

  • a2enmod authn_dbd

3- in the auth-pgsql.conf file, remove the lines:

  • AuthBasicAuthoritative
  • AuthUserFile
  • Auh_PG_*

4- in this file, add the two lines:

  • AuthBasicProvider dbd
  • AuthDBDUserPWQuery "SELECT password FROM pgauth.user WHERE login = %s"

5- in the netmagis.conf file (for Apache2), add the following lines (before the "Directory" section)

  • DBDriver pgsql
  • DBDParams "host=localhost port=5432 dbname=netmagis user=nm password=password-of-dnsdbuser"

Update example Apache configuration file
The example configuration file was written for
Apache 2.0. The newest version (2.4) obsoletes
some directives, so this commit updates this
example to use either Apache 2.2 or 2.4.
This new configuration cannot provide a simple
file to include for each authentication method.
Thus, the old auth-ldap.conf and auth-pgsql.conf
no longer exist, and all directives are now in
httpd.conf, which must be edited by hand (as
before, anyway).
