Go to the application settings in Nextcloud and set that country code to match your phone's international prefix (e.g., +49).
It is assumed that you have the Android client installed and correctly configured on your phone.
From your phone, send or receive SMS to a foreign number (e.g., +43 123456)
Wait for OCSMS to synchronise (or force it)
Expected behaviour
When looking at the message list for our foreign contact on the server, I should see the SMS sent / received.
Actual behaviour
No SMS appear. The contacts phone number is mangled by forcing the addition of your own local prefix. So that my contact +43 123456 appears as 4943123456.
