A Moodle block that displays a configurable list of common math input syntax examples alongside their rendered MathJax equivalents. This block serves as a quick reference guide for users when entering mathematical expressions in Moodle, especially in conjunction with STACK.
The math syntax help block is available via the Moodle plugin directory:
- Display rendered math expressions alongside their input syntax
- Configurable list of common math syntax examples
- Use of global site-wide default entries or custom entries for single block instances
- Customizable display density and entry background colors
- Usable in any Moodle block area (e.g., in quizzes, courses, ...)
- Control of block instance customization via Moodle capabilities
After installation, the block will be populated with a default set of math syntax help entries. These default entries can be customized via the site administration at Site administration > Plugins > Blocks > Math Syntax Help Block (see admin block settings).
By default, all freshly created block instance will use the configured default entries. If a user has the capability
block/mathsyntaxhelp:customize, they can customize the entries of any specific block instance via the block instance
settings (see block instance customization). If no custom entries are defined for a
block instance, the global default entries will always be used and will automatically be updated on any change via the
block admin settings page.
If you wish to customize the way the math syntax help entries are displayed, you can adjust the table density, i.e., row height, and the background color of the entries via the block admin settings page.
