- add exercise to understand overfitting where students are grouped, and each group is assigned a different model, of varying levels of complexity. The R^2 values are shown for each model. You explain that each team's model will be asked to predict K (=10?) values, and you want to know which ones will make better predictions. Have them guess. Then compute the predictions and see which team is best. Then show the PRESS statistics (or Mallows CP?) and see how they line up with the best model. | ||
