this fixes the test on openSUSE 12.1, which excludes NULL-MD5
support from its openssl packages.

Thanks for the report. I didn't take your patch (I didn't want to introduce multiple code paths) but I addressed the issue in 6003912.
Now don't tell me that openssl on opensuse doesn't know about RC4-MD5 either. :-)
