Nah, merging just means your proposal got into the general pool for review. We'll be looking at proposals steadily throughout this week and contact everyone individually. Also, I think we're going to extend the CFP deadline. I know a lot of people who were working on a proposal but didn't get theirs it in yet.

That said, I really like the topic and I think it would a perfect fit for the conference, and obviously, you are a well respected leader in the JavaScript community. I'll check with the rest of the team, and we'll do our normal review process, as a matter of course... but I would be very surprised if the response was anything other than overwhelming enthusiasm at having you be one of our speakers.

One thing that I was thinking -- In the coming weeks, could we build something with this, that augmented & integrated a virtual space with the real world NodePDX experience somehow? ... e.g. via sensors or other input devices, and create some kind of conference-wide, augmented reality gaming experience? I'm imagining an overlay, with a the various real-life spaces mirrored in a 3d space, and with portals between the virtual and real space at various places. Maybe a two-way big screen monitor/camera setup. Those not in Portland could telepresence via the virtual space.

Some other ideas:

We're thinking of bringing in one of those large construction-zone style LED messaging signs, and wiring an API up to it, so anyone can post a message to be displayed. It'd be cool to have that exist both in the real world and the virtual world.

Also, lighting that changes color based on API post, which changes ambient lighting in the room, and also changes the lighting in the virtual space.

Maybe an IRC bot listening to #nodepdx channel, running text-to-speech converter, outputting to a listening station, with a few headphones setup, so you can listen to the IRC conversations as they happen.

There will be a photo booth in the event space. Maybe set-up a three web cams in there, going into node-cv, which can detect faces, and generate a 3D minecraft avatar in the virtual space.

Thoughts?

hahaha, all of those ideas are awesome. mashing up something like this
http://learningthreejs.com/blog/2012/04/12/video-conference-on-top-of-webgl/ with
voxel.js should be fairly hackable
