npm hates directories that start with "readme" #2836

After updating npm, I had a package that was failing with this cryptic message:

npm ERR! install Couldn't read dependencies
npm ERR! Error: EISDIR, read

I finally discovered that the newer npm didn't like my directory named README. You might say "don't do that," but a friendlier message would be nice. Also, it hates anything that even starts with readme, so a directory named readme-maker, readmedical, or whatever will also trigger the error. It seems like it might bite someone else later by accident.

Indeed! That's a bug.
