improve translations #156
Comments
chinese, polish and turkish translations need more love. |
Maybe I can ask my mother for an croatian translation :-) |
If you look at the state of existing translations, I'ld only start with translators who have some interest in the project, stay with the project and keep things up-to-date in future also. decide yourself if that applies. |
btw, there likely will be a release soon, so if somebody wants to update the strings on transifex, now is a good time. |
see previous comment. release time soon, again. |
yet another wakeup call, see: https://www.transifex.com/thomaswaldmann/nsupdateinfo/dashboard/ please improve translations so they have 100% translated strings and stay close to that. i am considering dropping any translation that is too incomplete (the very incomplete ones might get dropped completely, the middle ground might survive on transifex, but not be part of the next release). |
I've updated the english original texts on transifex (seems there were no changes recently). Current state and plan what to do if there is no change: Include in release: english, german, italian (all at 100%), french (95%) Maybe include: spanish (80%) Don't include into release: chinese (China, 67%), greek (51%), portuguese (41%), turkish (27%). Drop completely from transifex: chinese (Taiwan, 7%), polish (7%) |
Note: considering the bad state of many existing translations, I rather don't want additional ones. I might make an exception for extremely widespread languages, if they are left-to-right (we can not support rtl yet) and if a native speaker steps up doing a full, manual translation in a short time. |
current state: en, de, it, fr, el all at 100% and deployed at https://nsupdate.info/ site. thanks to everybody who helped updating these. |
last call for 0.13 release translators! we are soon reaching the 0.13 milestone and a release will happen soon after that. |
Ping! Next release "really soon now", hopefully. :-) |
Update: removed empty / almost empty translations. |
de el en es fr it So that's it for next release. |
we support quite some languages now, but translations need more work:
some translations of nsupdate.info might be incomplete, some might need proofreading and quality improvements.
Translations should be checked practically on the web user interface - there is an easy language switcher now: https://nsupdate.info (you can use the test/test account)
the translations are maintained on transifex, see:
https://nsupdateinfo.readthedocs.org/en/latest/project.html#translations
https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/nsupdateinfo/
(and either work online and save often or be quick to avoid duplicate work)
as translating is an ongoing process (strings change, get added, get removed), it is a great idea if everybody who wants to help with translations enables notifications on transifex, so he/she gets notified by email, when updates happen, see: https://www.transifex.com/settings/notices/ (you need to be logged in)
