It will be nice for NVDA to support reporting of color information as it is currently done for text formatting. Such information can be gathered from specific APIs (such as mshtml !CurrentStyle interface) and from GDI hooks in future. We can bind this function to double nvda+f for example.

It should be noted here for reference that Mick introduced initial color support for some controls after 2010.2. We still have places where this info is available but is not requested by NVDA e.g. virtual buffers, display model.

I note in software like Outlook Express and Live mail one can elect to have the read status of an email indicated in a colour. Now its a big if, but if this is presented to nvda, one could deduce the flag setting for an email this way.
Just a thought.

As noted in comment:1, support for this has already been implemented for some controls. Additional tickets should be opened for places where this is not yet supported.
