In 2010 beta 1 and recent snapshots, it appears that if you switch to sapi4 and then go to the voice selection dialogue, you cannot select a voice. You just hear the error sound instead.
Also, if you have sapi4 set, and start using the default, ie already set voice, you can find that you get into the same predicament of every keypress giving an error and no speech at all.
One can, if lucky, go blind to the synth selection and force it up to Espeak and get this synth working. However many attempts of doing this can crash nvda to the usual Windows, if you were in the middle of something error. I'll try to attach a couple of log files to this ticket.
