Related to obophenotype/mammalian-phenotype-ontology#2110

id: UBERON:0005368
name: hippocampus molecular layer
def: "A cytoarchitectural region of the hippocampus consisting of a composite of the two outermost layers of the hippocampus, the Stratum lacunosum-moleculare and the Stratum radiatum (Carpenter-83). In CA3, there is an additional layer lying above the pyramidal cell layer, the stratum lucidum, which is also included here." [NIFSTD:birnlex_1211]

Def was taken verbatim, see http://neurolex.org/wiki/Birnlex_1211

OK, so this can't be right. I would assume LM = L+M. This says M = LM + R. I'm pretty sure this layer doesn't include the stratum radiatum

See the comment here
http://neurolex.org/wiki/Birnlex_1211#tab=Advanced

"We need to disambiguate this use of the term from the stratum moleculare, one of the cytoarchitectural layers that is usually merged with the lacunosum"

This suggests to me that there was kind of erroneous merge or something. Either way, dubious.

WP is actually quite good here:
