Hi Chris,

we would like to propose a 'nursing stage' synonym 'suckling stage' with the following draft definition:
"Mammals developmental stage that covers the period from birth until weaning."
This stage will overlap 'neonate stage' in mammals.
I know, this is mainly a behaviour/social stage, but sometimes it is the only way to define the age of a mammal: still suckling while not being anymore a neonate.

Open to discussion

Cheers,

Anne

btw, I think things get interesting when we throw metatherians into the mix. Kangaroos give birth to what is essentially a fetus. For us, birth is necessarily post-embryonic (and fetus stage is part of embryo stage). May be easiest to shift the goalposts and say they give birth to something with fetus-like properties, but is not a true fetus.

This class still doesn't have xrefs or EC axioms to species-specific stages (the mappings were defined on the dev. stage repository). This is a recurrent problem, I guess this is because you expect us to modify something on the dev. stage repository, am I correct?

(for subclasses requested, we'll open another ticket, cc @ANiknejad )

Still no xrefs nor EC axioms for these classes (see previous message).

Yes. Can we fix the species ontologies to use imports?
