httplib2 and python-oauth2 are pretty much abandonware at this point. requests and oauthlib are gaining ground and will make transitioning to python 3 support much easier.

Moving to requests might be easy to implement, not sure about oauthlib, still sounds like a good idea.

I've pushed the changes to support Python3 and also Django1.5 on requests branch, this includes requests and oauthlib (with requests-oauthlib) changes. Please give it a try before I merge it to master.

Work for this is part of python-social-auth. Closing this due to django-social-auth deprecation.
