I am using always a clean install of Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 minimal OS 64

Recently, I started to encounter problems using wget "https://github.com/omega8cc/nginx-for-drupal/raw/master/BARRACUDA.sh.txt"

It gives the following error:

ERROR: certificate common name *.github.com' doesn't match requested host namegithub.com'.
To connect to github.com insecurely, use `--no-check-certificate'.

However, had no problem installing BARRACUDA. With this latest file, I always receive the error:

Barracuda [Tue Jan 18 17:39:25 EST 2011] ==> INFO: Downloading little helpers, please wait...

Barracuda [Tue Jan 18 17:39:28 EST 2011] ==> EXIT on error due to missing helpers.
Barracuda [Tue Jan 18 17:39:28 EST 2011] ==> Please try to run this script again in a few minutes.
Barracuda [Tue Jan 18 17:39:28 EST 2011] ==> Also, make sure the git port 9418 is open.
Barracuda [Tue Jan 18 17:39:28 EST 2011] ==> Bye.

I am sure that port 9418 is open.

No idea what is wrong.

Thank you.

The ssl/cert issue is a known problem, introduced both by Ubuntu and GitHub. This is also one of a few reasons we switched to Gitorious, so please use correct download links mentioned now in the docs/INSTALL.txt.

The second issue may be caused by your slow connection to both Gitorious and GitHub servers, since the installer timeouts after 8 seconds.

Could you try to manually download the helpers when logged in on your server with something like:

git clone git://github.com/omega8cc/nginx-for-drupal.git

Thanks

I've got it to work by doing as you explained. But I tried the install on another server and encountered the same problem. I do not think it's to do with the 8 seconds time out, since the message comes up on the screen pretty much from the start.

Doing an upgrade on Barracuda, breaks the Aegir installation on both servers. One is with 2host.com (zen) and the second is with Burst.net.

Strange. After rebooting the servers, everything worked.

Hmm.. I remember some issues posted before related to Burst.net, caused probably by their non-standard, modified OS images, so we can't support unknown OS distributions.

Furthermore, they are using OpenVZ which known, like Virtuozzo to have very bad I/O performance/issues causing Drupal sites to simply fail with performance related problems. Search on g.d.o to find related reports.

No idea what can be wrong in 2host.com, it is Debian on Xen, so it should just work, unless their OS images are also non-standard.
