Git workflow modification #794

  • Introduce stable branch, which we encourage new users to switch to at first (when installing from git)
  • Do bleeding-edge development in the master branch
  • Versioned branches like 99x etc. can still exist after release, to backport bugfixes, etc.
  • Tags work as before.

This will require a documentation update.

No feedback.. not enough active development lately to justify it, meh.
