  4. small perl initialisation patch

Frans Meulenbroeks authored Holger Hans Peter Freyther committed
    HI all,

Attached is a patch for perl to improve initialisation.
    >From the commit message:

Perl file Lib/CPAN/FirstTime.pm can enter a dialog for continent which
    never ends.
This problem is among others sometimes triggered by
    libxml-namespacesupport-perl_1.10.bb
The patch forces the answer for manual configuration to "no" avoiding
that we run into this problem

As I am not really a perl wiz, I would like some more eyeballs to look
    at this one.

And apologies for not inlining the patch, but gmail wraps and
configuring git send-email requires several perl modules that are not
    on the opensuse feed

    Appreciated your feedback

    Frans

  6. socat: Add version 1.7.1.2

John Faith authored Holger Hans Peter Freyther committed
Second try. Added package source checksums, changed PR to r0, and removed some trailing whitespace in the patch.

Allow socat 1.7.1.2 to cross build. In configure.in, the 4th value in AC_TRY_RUN() gives a default value for cross build environments since a test program cannot be run on the build system. There are 2 places where AC_MSG_RESULT() is used instead of a default value which seems to result in code like "#define CRDLY_SHIFT" which breaks preprocessor checks like "#if CRDLY_SHIFT >= 0".

The patch gives default values in configure and configure.in for cross compiling and checks were added in the affected source.

  7. classes/distutils-common-base.bbclass redefines FILES_${PN}-dbg

Rolf Leggewie authored Holger Hans Peter Freyther committed
    Hello,

classes/distutils-common-base.bbclass redefines instead of appends to
the list of files to include in the debug packages. I have verified the
problem and the proper fix taking the rpm recipe as an example.

The attached patch possibly changes the contents of dependant packages.
There are a number of them, so I don't think it's practical to bump PR
for all of them. Distro maintainers should bump distro PR or something.
I'm not aware of an elegant solution in OE to deal with this.

  11. image, rootfs_ipk: implement IMAGE_FEATURES

Christopher Larson authored Holger Hans Peter Freyther committed
This adds the ability to include groups of packages in an image. It is
similar in concept to the IMAGE_FEATURES used in Poky, but here we use
    IMAGE_FEATURE_<feature> and IMAGE_FEATURE_<feature>_OPTIONAL, rather than
    base_contains calls.

    Initially defined groups:
    base - the packages requested via IMAGE_INSTALL & IMAGE_VARS
    dbg - debug packages
    dev - development packages
doc - documentation packages (of limited use at the moment due to task.bbclass)
vmlinux - kernel debugging packages (just kernel-vmlinux at the moment)

To add one of these to an image, you can either append to IMAGE_FEATURES or override IMAGE_FEATURES.

    Examples:
    IMAGE_FEATURES_append = " dbg"

    IMAGE_FEATURES = "base dbg vmlinux"

To add a new package group:
    IMAGE_FEATURE_myfeature = "gstreamer python pulseaudio"

    external-toolchain-generic,
    external-toolchain:

    * The current external-toolchain recipes which are documented to accept
toolchains built by meta-toolchain actually do not accept such because
they expect ${prefix}/package-status to exist which is provieded by
the poky toolchains but not the current OE meta-toolchain package.

Fix this by also looking for ${prefix}/usr/lib/opkg/status, which is the

When OE does 'opkg-cl install $EVERYTHING', all the memory leaks in opkg
start to accumulate. My guess is that somewhere a memory allocation failed
but was not checked for failure, then everything started to blow up.

Obviously, the memory leaks should be plugged (working on it...) and memory
allocations checked for failure (hopefully all sorted in opkg svn now). But
there's still a danger that large images will exhaust the supply of memory,
causing massive thrashing if nothing else.

The following is untested and only reduces that chances of this occuring,
but perhaps it makes sense to do something like this?

Well, I agree, but judging by commit

  31. package.bbclass: introduce KEEP_GNU_DEBUGLINK

Roman Khimov authored Holger Hans Peter Freyther committed
Currently we're keeping .gnu_debuglink section in files after stripping them.
It makes binaries from successive builds a bit different, which is not good
in situations where you want them to be exactly the same (identical checksums).

So, introducing KEEP_GNU_DEBUGLINK which can be set to zero to disable this
behavior and get identical result on successive builds for most of the
    packages.
  32. patch for bluetooth audio.conf

Klaus Kurzmann authored Holger Hans Peter Freyther committed
    Hello all,

to get audio routing for bluetooth headsets correct on OpenMoko phones we need
the attached patch to bluez.inc which changes audio.conf to enables the
    SCORouting=PCM option.

Is this something that can be done globally? Or will it break on other
hardware? If it cannot be done globally, what is the correct way to do that?
We (SHR distro) could do that with a distro override, but if it has the
possibility to break other hardware we would not want that ;) We would rather
add a machine override then. Right now bluez4 is *not* machine dependent and
the config files are included in the base package. I see two ways to do that:

    a) make bluez4 machine dependent and add overrides for om-gta01/2
    b) extract the config files into some bluez4-config package and provide a
    different one for om-gta01/2

    Thoughts?
