This pull request contains a backport of JDK-8280476, commit f5d6fddc from the openjdk/jdk repository.

The commit being backported was authored by Daniel D. Daugherty on 4 Feb 2022 and was reviewed by Kim Barrett and Andrew Dinn.

This fixes potential UB when using latest versions of XCode.
