Hi,
I have a fresh debian (9.4) install, and following instructions exactly from here:
https://openmediavault.readthedocs.io/en/latest/installation/on_debian.html

But when trying to install, I get this error:

Restarting engine daemon ...
Cannot create socket to [localhost]:2812 -- Connection refused
Updating locale files ...
Updating file permissions ...
Purging internal cache ...

so I checked:

root@castaway:~# cat /etc/monit/monitrc
set daemon 30 with start delay 5
set logfile syslog facility log_daemon
set idfile /var/lib/monit/id
set statefile /var/lib/monit/state
set httpd port 2812 and
use address localhost # only accept connection from localhost
allow localhost # allow localhost to connect to the server and
# allow admin:monit # require user 'admin' with password 'monit'
set eventqueue
  basedir /var/lib/monit/events
  slots 100
include /etc/monit/conf.d/*

Then I tried to open port in-case that was the issue:

root@castaway:~# iptables -A INPUT -p udp -m udp --dport 2812 -j ACCEPT
root@castaway:~# iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 2812 -j ACCEPT

Proceeded to omv-initsystem, but fails as:

root@castaway:~# omv-initsystem
grep: /etc/network/interfaces: No such file or directory
grep: /etc/network/interfaces: No such file or directory
cp: cannot stat '/etc/network/interfaces': No such file or directory
run-parts: /usr/share/openmediavault/initsystem/40interfaces exited with return code 1

So did some poking, and fails like this now:

root@castaway:~# ls -al /etc/network/interfaces
ls: cannot access '/etc/network/interfaces': No such file or directory
root@castaway:~# touch /etc/network/interfaces
root@castaway:~# omv-initsystem
update-initramfs: /boot/initrd.img-4.9.0-7-amd64 has been altered.
update-initramfs: Cannot update. Override with -t option.

Any ideas? Full log here from fresh install: https://pastebin.com/T583znzC

root@castaway:~# uname -r
4.9.0-7-amd64
