Being an open source project, we hope to encourage a younger audience of STEM students to apply or acquire new skills in cartography, Geographical Information System (GIS), and programming, by contributing to the OPM software and platform development.

### Roadmap

We are just getting started!

We aim to launch a first version of OpenPlanetaryMap in Spring 2018. Throughout the project, we will organize co-located hackathons at planetary data workshops and other events, and release intermediate products (such as basemaps for example).

* 19-21 April: VESPA Mapping Workshop (Roscoff, France)
* 12-15 June: NASA/USGS Planetary Data Workshop (Flagstaff, USA)
* 2-7 July: 28th International Cartographic Conference (Washington DC, USA)
* 17-22 September: European Planetary Science Conference (Riga, Latvia)

Milestones, tasks, requirements, feature requests and bugs will be managed using GitHub issues tracking system [here](https://github.com/openplanetary/opm/issues).

## How to contribute

We'd love your feedback along the way.
