Hi

I have noticed that read only users are able to write on an IFC and add subproject in the same way as a common user.

What is the current purpose of this read only user ?

There was once the idea to have multiple types of users, but implementation has not been kept up-to-date. My current view is that BIMserver should not be doing this, as it's just a BIM database.

As an analogy, MySQL has usermanagement, but almost nobody uses it to validate real users of the application, it's usually only used by 1 user, with the credentials stored on the application server.

We can keep this issue open to either

  • Remove this, to avoid confusion
  • Implement it correctly for all calls (> 300 at the moment).
