Remote control is not working without accepting invalid certificate #740
Comments
We switched to using port 8112 in https mode several weeks ago in 5e5c6b3. There's not much I can do about having to accept the certificate. |
At least - can it be mentioned in error message? Something like "Editing failed - make sure JOSM or Merkaartor is loaded and the remote control option is enabled and invalid certificate from https://127.0.0.1:8112/ is accepted"? It is a pity that it cannot be fixed properly. |
Well does the browser not prompt you to accept the certificate anyway? The only way to "fix it" would be for JOSM to have a certificate from a trusted authority, but that wouldn't work as the private key would have to be distributed with JOSM! |
No. I found out about where I should visit to accept certificate by asking on OSM forum (PL section). Remote edit link is https://www.openstreetmap.org/edit?editor=remote#map=19/50.07401/19.89918 - and at least on FF 28 certicate problem results in a silent failure with "Editing failed - make sure JOSM or Merkaartor is loaded and the remote control option is enabled" message. |

Remote control from https version of website is not working correctly in FF 28 (JOSM was target of messages).
Commands from http://127.0.0.1:8111/ were working correctly
But from osm website edits attempts were resulting in "Editing failed - make sure JOSM or Merkaartor is loaded and the remote control option is enabled"
To have it working it is necessary to visit https://127.0.0.1:8112/ and accept invalid certificate.
