The new leaflet based slipply map has an issue on the fairly popular Dolphin browser on Android. Both the zoom contraols and the layer switcher are obscured by the tiles. This seems to be a z-index issuse since both controls can briefly be seen before the tiles are loaded and displayed.

I tried Dolphin briefly last night (after merging Saman's latest work) and it seemed fine, so are you still seeing this?

I just checked on both a mobile phone and on a tablet (with both stock browser and Dolphin).

On the phone everthing seems ok now with the mobile website, on the tablet, where I get the normal website (not the compact mobile version), the problem still exists.

Well I don't think there were any z-index fixes to the mobile site - the changes were all to do with the positioning mode for the map and controls, and their relative vertical positions.

Indeed it looks like the z-index is set dynamically by leaflet starting with the tile layer at 2 and then the object layer at 3 and then the controls above that.

How is this looking with the latest leaflet and the redesigned site?

Thanks for reporting the original bug. I'm going to assume this has fixed itself in the intervening years. If not, then please reopen at https://github.com/openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website
